Bay Area flutist Carol Adee will be joined by bassist Mark Culbertson and musical friends to play music on historical and modern instruments.  Listeners will hear the music of JS Bach, Schubert and Schumann with fresh ears, enlivened by ideas that will open up the listening experience.  Always engaging and lively, Carol and Mark will play music that has inspired them over a lifetime and will share what makes these pieces interesting and uplifting to them.

Listeners will have the opportunity to hear music played on historical instruments (a wooden flute with only six holes, a bass with strings made of animal intestines!) with all their subtleties contrasted with the robust and varied qualities of modern instruments (a flute of silver and gold, the bass is still made of wood but the strings are wrapped in metal.)

The audience will have the opportunity to choose from a dessert menu of beloved short pieces to conclude the concert.

Carol Adee has performed professionally on three continents and across America.  She has recorded a solo CD Bach to Nature as well as multiple CDs as principal flutist with Women’s Philharmonic.  Mark Culbertson plays bass in a wide range of styles: classical, jazz and rock.  Mark and Carol are founding players in ECHO, a collaborative chamber orchestra of professional musicians performing three concerts each season in Marin County.
